2020 TrackBattle - Round 1 Official Results

2020 got off to an early start with Round 1 taking place back at Gingerman Raceway. This event always feels like homecoming, with cool weather, some rain, and the return of night racing at one of the safest tracks in America. Drivers seized the opportunity to load their cars with underbody glow to recreate scenes from their favorite automotive movie franchise on Saturday night during a cold and rainy final session. By Sunday morning, the weather had cleared, and we saw what the 2020 season had in store for fans. New records were set in Street, Street Modified, and Track Modified. Charles Miller put down an incredible 1:38.009 in Street, besting the previous record held by Josh Orr of 1:38.096. In Street Modified, we saw what is likely going to be perennial podium contenders Eric DeWitt and Alex Moss battle it out all afternoon taking the track record from each other multiple times. In the end, Dewey took the top spot with a 1:34.450. Only 0.023s behind, Moss settled for 2nd. Look for these 2 to be battling it out all year in 2020. Michael Puglisi returned to Track Modified with a recently rebuilt powerplant and turned it up to 11 almost instantly. He was able to put down an incredible 1:31.977 taking the record away from Jeremy Swenson that was set earlier in 2019. Not too far behind him Andy Smedegard was shaking down an LS7-swapped E46 with all the aero. Andy managed a 1:32.641 in the first event for that car, despite still needing to connect the ABS and the traction control systems. With so many contenders battling to take the top spot on any particular weekend, 2020 will be the best season of TrackBattle to date. Stay tuned.
