Eibach GLTC Set for Eighth Season of Close-Quarters Racing

Dust flies as Eric Kutil (white Civic) and Eric Magnussen (gold M3) bring the field to the green flag at Carolina Motorsports Park in 2025.

The Eibach GRIDLIFE Touring Cup returns for its eighth season in 2026, once again delivering some of the tightest and most entertaining wheel-to-wheel racing in grassroots motorsports. With grids exceeding 30 cars at nearly all events on the GRIDLIFE calendar, the championship is poised for another fiercely competitive year across six venues nationwide.

After one of the closest title fights in series history in 2025, reigning champion Matan Rosenberg will not defend his crown as he moves up to compete in the GRIDLIFE Grand Touring category. His departure leaves the championship wide open heading into the new season.

The driver most poised to capitalize is last year’s runner-up, Eric Kutil. A longtime GLTC competitor, Kutil is expected to return in his #82 Honda Civic Ferio while also developing a new GLGT program aimed at 2027. With Rosenberg stepping aside, the veteran driver enters 2026 as one of the early favorites for the title.

A Competitive Opening Stretch

The season begins April 17-19 at Carolina Motorsports Park during GRIDLIFE South Carolina, a flowing club circuit that rewards momentum and racecraft. Among the drivers to watch is 16-year-old Aryton Grim, who has shown impressive flashes of speed in his 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata.

Eric Magnussen also returns after earning his first career series victories last season in his renumbered #3 BMW M3. Other familiar names expected for the opener include Matt Waldbaum in the #90 ASM Honda S2000, Carlos Mendez in the Condor Speed Shop #83 BMW, and Tom Panzarella in his distinctive 1989 Volkswagen GTI.

From South Carolina, the championship heads to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in collaboration with Formula Drift, placing GLTC drivers on display in front of thousands of spectators. Last year’s event was largely contested in wet conditions, adding another layer of difficulty to one of America’s most iconic road courses.

Among those returning is Brian Santiago in the #23 Ford Focus ST, which has undergone significant offseason changes aimed at improving both reliability and outright pace.

Summer Battles Across the Midwest and Northeast

As the season moves into summer, the championship stops at GingerMan Raceway for GRIDLIFE Midwest, one of the largest gatherings in grassroots motorsports. The event regularly delivers packed grids and some of the closest racing of the year.

One newcomer joining the championship full-time is Matthew Ibrahim of Garagistic, who will campaign the #600 BMW 325i in his inaugural GLTC season.

July brings one of the most anticipated rounds of the year: GRIDLIFE Summer Apex at Watkins Glen International. The last time GRIDLIFE visited the historic circuit, all four GLTC races were contested in heavy rain. The July 24-26 date this year is expected to provide far more favorable conditions for competition on the fast and flowing 3.4-mile road course.

Rivalries Renew and a Championship Finale

In August, the championship heads to Lime Rock Park for GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends, a venue that produced some of the most memorable battles of the 2025 campaign.

Last year, Eric Kutil, Andy Smedegard, and Eric Magnussen delivered a thrilling display of racecraft in the final races of the weekend. Smedegard’s FA24-swapped Scion FR-S emerged as a major contender in the latter half of the season, setting the stage for another potential showdown between the trio in 2026.

The championship will ultimately be decided at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, where the legendary Corkscrew provides the backdrop for the season finale. Interest in the West Coast round continues to grow, with multiple entries expected from Smedegard’s program and drivers such as Azmath Mohammed, Peter Zhang, and Vytis Aranauskas planning to make the trip to California for the championship showdown.

Returning Partnerships Drive Championship Forward

GRIDLIFE partners continue to play a major role in the growth of the Eibach GRIDLIFE Touring Cup Championship heading into 2026. Series title sponsor Eibach remains deeply involved in the championship after a memorable 2025 season that saw champion Matan Rosenberg earn a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as part of the company’s 75th anniversary celebration. Rosenberg will travel to Germany to join Eibach’s anniversary festivities and take to the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, driving on one of the most iconic and challenging circuits in the world. Meanwhile, technology partner FireLaps expands its presence across the championship. The company’s AI coaching and live telemetry platform now integrates directly with the GRIDLIFE Live broadcast for GLTC competitors as well, allowing drivers equipped with a FireLink device to stream real-time speed, G-force, and performance data directly into the broadcast for fans to follow during races.
