GRIDLIFE Drift Returns in 2026 with Big Names and Big Tracks

GRIDLIFE Drift returns in 2026 as one of the most distinctive elements of the GRIDLIFE experience, blending high-level drifting with road course environments rarely, if ever, used for the discipline.

Unlike traditional drift formats, GRIDLIFE places drivers on full road courses, giving both spectators and grip racers a unique perspective on the precision, commitment, and car control required to drift at speed. The result is a showcase that emphasizes flow, style, and creativity across some of the most iconic circuits in North America.

All six rounds of the 2026 season will feature drift, with select events expanding to multiple course configurations, creating one of the most diverse and visually dynamic drifting programs in grassroots motorsports. A mix of both pro and grassroots drivers are featured on entry lists all season long, including Formula Drift veteran Justin Pawlak, who will be at several events with long-time GRIDLIFE partner Falken Tire.

A Multi-Course Season Opener

The season begins April 17–19 at Carolina Motorsports Park, where GRIDLIFE Drift will utilize both the 2.28-mile full road course and the 0.7-mile karting circuit.

More than 60 drivers are already registered across the two layouts, with many competitors expected to run double-duty throughout the weekend. The karting circuit will host a packed skidpad-style environment, featuring drivers such as AJ Allen in a 1997 BMW 328i convertible and James Dunn in a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette, alongside a deep field of Nissan 350Z, 370Z, and 240SX builds. Friday night brings one of the weekend’s standout attractions: Night Shift Drift, where drivers take to the kart track under the lights in a high-energy showcase that blends style, proximity, and atmosphere into one of the most visually striking drift experiences of the season.

On the full course, nearly 30 drivers are set to tackle the high-speed layout. Tanner Dutton brings a 1998 Pontiac Firebird, while Peter Collins returns in his familiar ASM BMW M3. One of the most unique entries belongs to Stephen Shockley, who campaigns a 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman.

The event also draws significant star power, including Hert and T-Pain with Nappy Boy Automotive, a reflection of GRIDLIFE’s blend of car culture, entertainment, and on-track action. Atlanta local Sebastian Suaza, former Final Bout champion and judge, will be joining GRIDLIFE at South Carolina Festival.

GRIDLIFE x Formula Drift Crossover

From South Carolina, the season heads to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in May in collaboration with Formula Drift.

While GRIDLIFE has drifted at Road Atlanta before, this marks the second year of a unique crossover where Formula Drift professional drivers join the GRIDLIFE paddock and take on the full 12-turn circuit, a layout far faster and more expansive than the Formula Drift course.

This creates one of the most visually striking moments of the season, as drivers link drifts through the downhill esses and carry speed through the dramatic drop at Turn 12, sections unused in standard drift competition. For fans, it’s a rare opportunity to see top-level drift cars pushed beyond their usual constraints on one of America’s most revered road courses. Pro driver Forrest Wang will be present, flying the GRIDLIFE flag for the weekend.

A GRIDLIFE Summer and Return to Watkins Glen

The summer stretch brings GRIDLIFE Drift to GingerMan Raceway for GRIDLIFE Midwest, the largest event on the calendar and a cornerstone of grassroots car culture.

The Midwest paddock consistently draws a wide mix of drivers and builds, from grassroots entries to well-known personalities. Among those expected to participate are Dylan Hughes, Chase McMaster, and the Kocourek family, Craig Kocourek and Jake Kocourek.

Also joining the drift field is Jeremy Swenson, past Eibach GRIDLIFE Touring Cup champion, now campaigning a C6-generation Chevrolet Corvette after transitioning from wheel-to-wheel competition.

Later in the season, GRIDLIFE returns to Watkins Glen International for GRIDLIFE Summer Apex, marking just the second time drifting has taken place at the historic circuit. The first came during GRIDLIFE’s 2023 visit, making this a rare opportunity for drivers to experience one of North America’s fastest road courses from a completely different perspective. Currently, 16 drivers are registered for the event, with many more expected as the summer approaches. The fast, flowing nature of Watkins Glen provides a dramatically different canvas for drift, emphasizing commitment, high-speed transitions, and precision through its sweeping corners.

Unforgettable Moments at Historic Venues

Few stops on the calendar capture the spirit of GRIDLIFE Drift like Lime Rock Park during GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends. As one of America’s most historic road racing venues, and with sound and day constraints, Lime Rock was once considered an unlikely place for drifting, yet GRIDLIFE and Lime Rock Park have made it a centerpiece of Circuit Legends.

The ability to drift the full 1.5-mile circuit remains unique in global motorsports, and the August event consistently draws both core drivers and surprise appearances. Among those expected to attend are Anna Marsh, Peter Collins, Travis Pendleton, and Adam Daniels, along with to-be-announced pro drivers.

The season concludes at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, where GRIDLIFE Drift has developed one of its most iconic traditions: sending drift cars down the legendary Corkscrew.

Since its debut in 2023, the sight of drivers committing to the blind crest and rapid elevation drop while sideways has become a defining image of the series. The 2026 finale is expected to feature returning names such as Matt Field, Forrest Wang, and Dylan Hughes, alongside drivers including Jonny Grunwald in his 1993 Mazda RX-7, Cameron Shaefer in a 1986 RX-7, and Andriy Bilovol.

More than just a finale, Laguna Seca has become a year-end celebration of car culture - bringing together drivers from across the country to share the track in one of the most unique drifting environments in the world.

A Showcase of Skill, Live

While GRIDLIFE Drift is not a points-based championship, it remains one of the most compelling showcases of driver skill and creativity in the paddock. The focus is on community, progression, and pushing the limits of what’s possible in a drift car, especially on circuits never designed for it.

Fans can follow all the action through the GRIDLIFE Live broadcast, featuring a multi-camera, television-style production with live announcing and full-course coverage. From high-speed entries at Road Atlanta to the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca, GRIDLIFE Drift delivers a perspective on drifting that simply isn’t seen anywhere else in grassroots motorsports.
